LESSON 2.1: Finding Your Profitable Purpose: The Ikigai Framework

Hey, beautiful soul, and welcome to Module 2. I am so excited to dive into this with you because this is where we start building the heart and soul of your brand. In the last module, we laid the foundation, grounding your business in faith and purpose. Now, we get to build the house. And we're going to build it on the rock, not on the sand. The rock is your unique, God-given purpose.

So, let’s get real for a second. Have you ever felt like you’re meant for more? Like there’s this calling on your life, a whisper in your spirit that you’re supposed to be doing something significant, something that lights you up and serves the world? But maybe you’re not sure what that thing is. Or maybe you have an idea, but you’re scared it’s not profitable, or not practical, or just… not possible.

I see you. I’ve been there. That feeling is the starting point of आपका entrepreneurial journey. It’s a divine invitation. And in this lesson, we’re going to answer that call with a powerful, beautiful framework from Japan called Ikigai.

[DOUBLE-CLICK MOMENT]

I remember when I first discovered this concept. I was feeling so lost. I had a successful career, but I felt empty. I was making money, but I wasn’t making a difference. I was doing what the world told me I should do, but I wasn’t doing what God had called me to do. I would spend my nights scrolling, looking at other women living these vibrant, purposeful lives, and I’d just feel this ache in my chest. I knew I was made for more, but I was stuck in the “how.” How do I find it? How do I make it my life? I prayed for clarity, for a sign, for a blueprint. And that’s when I stumbled upon Ikigai. It was like a lightbulb went off in my soul. It gave me a map to find the treasure that was already inside me.

Ikigai is a Japanese concept that essentially means “a reason for being.” It’s the intersection of four incredibly important parts of your life:

  1. What You Love: This is your passion. What could you talk about for hours? What do you do in your free time? What makes your heart sing?
  2. What You Are Good At: This is your talent, your skill, your God-given gift. What do people come to you for help with? What comes naturally to you?
  3. What The World Needs: This is your mission. What problem in the world breaks your heart? What change do you want to create? Who do you feel called to serve?
  4. What You Can Be Paid For: This is your profession, your vocation. What skills are in demand? What are people willing to pay for?

Now, you might be living in one or two of these circles right now. If you’re doing what you love and what you’re good at, you have a passion. But without the other two, it might feel like a hobby, not a calling. If you’re doing what you’re good at and what you can be paid for, you have a profession. But it might feel empty, right? Like you’re just going through the motions. If you’re doing what the world needs and what you can be paid for, you have a vocation. It’s practical, but is it lighting you up?

Your Ikigai is the sweet spot in the middle. It’s where your passion, your mission, your vocation, and your profession all come together. It’s the place where what you love to do, what you’re amazing at, what the world desperately needs, and what you can build a thriving business around, all intersect.

This isn’t just a business strategy, sis. This is a spiritual principle. Remember the first commandment God gave us? “Be fruitful and multiply.” That wasn’t just about having babies. It was a mandate to multiply everything He has given you. Your talents, your gifts, your light. Your business is the vehicle for that multiplication. It’s how you take the unique spark God placed inside you and turn it into a fire that warms the world.

Finding your Ikigai is about identifying that spark. It’s about saying, “Okay, God, you made me love this. You made me good at this. You’ve shown me how the world needs this. Now, show me how to turn it into a business that glorifies You.”

This is the absolute foundation of building a brand that resonates. Because when your business is built on your Ikigai, it’s not just a business anymore. It’s an extension of you. It’s authentic. It’s magnetic. People are drawn to it because they can feel the passion, they can see the purpose, and they can sense the anointing on it.

This is how you stop selling products and start selling a worldview. Your Ikigai is the core of your world. It’s the belief system that underpins everything you do. When you’re operating from this place, your content isn’t just content; it’s a demonstration of your purpose. Your product isn’t just a product; it’s a solution born from your unique calling.

So, how do we find it? In the worksheet for this lesson, you’re going to find your own Ikigai diagram. I want you to get quiet, pray, and really pour your heart into this. Don’t overthink it. Just write. What are all the things you love? List them out. What are all the things you’re good at? Be honest! Don’t be humble here. What breaks your heart about the world? What problems do you want to solve? And what do you see people paying for? What services, what products, what solutions are out there?

As you fill it out, you’ll start to see themes emerge. You’ll see connections you never noticed before. You might realize that your love for organizing, your skill for creating systems, and the world’s need for peace and order could become a business that sells digital planners and productivity courses. You might see that your passion for baking, your gift for hospitality, and the world’s need for connection could become a brand that teaches women how to build community through hosting gatherings.

This is the work. This is the starting point. Before we talk about logos or colors or what to post on Threads, we have to know why we’re doing it. Your Ikigai is your “why.” It’s the North Star that will guide every single decision you make in your business.

So, take your time with this. This isn’t a one-and-done exercise. This is a living document that you can come back to again and again as your business evolves. But for now, let’s just find that starting point. Let’s find that beautiful, powerful, profitable purpose that God has already placed inside of you.

I’m cheering you on. Now, go open up that worksheet and let’s discover your Ikigai.
